Which diet is better: low carb or a low-fat one?

Discover the pros and cons of different types of diet

There are many diets available for the eternal race for weight reduction. The most important are usually divided into two basic groups: those that are low in carbohydrates and those that are low in fat. Which of the two is better?

Many studies have addressed this problem. Most of them have concluded that low carbohydrate diets tend to be more effective than those based on lower fat intake.

In a recent study published by Stanford University and Professor Christopher Gardner, two groups were tested over the course of a year. Each group was assigned a different diet model. But something very special should be noted: both groups were advised to reduce the levels of sugar consumption and lower the intake of carbohydrates, as well as increase the intake of vegetables, vegetables, and fruits.

After a year, the results were minimally differentiated, which implies that both diets can work. However, according to our sources, something catches the attention of this study. It is that in the conclusions they have not assessed a differential process that occurred between 3 and 6 months of the diet, but have only established their conclusion based on the final result (12 months of diet).

In the period from 3 to 6 months, people who applied the low carbohydrate diet were more successful for the purpose of losing weight. Only in the first three months the relationship, according to the study, is 6.9 kilos of weight lost against 5.8 kilos. Then, in the stage that reaches 6 months, the numbers increase in the following relation: 9.1 kilos against 7.5 kilos.

If this process is reversed at the end of a year, it could find an answer in the fact that groups with a low carbohydrate diet have a greater tendency to gradually abandon the eating plan, but in reality, to maintain it until the end, it is possible that the diet Low carb is more effective.

Either way, something is obvious: if it is recommended to minimize sugar intake and reduce carbohydrates in both diets, then both diets can be effective despite their differences. Therefore, both models of diets can be valued as healthy, although one is faster than the other.

In this sense, the best thing is that you consult a specialist to entrust you with the most appropriate diet. Remember that the chart may vary depending on your health requirements. If you have high cholesterol, you should follow a different diet than someone who does not.
