Tips for wearing contact lenses

There is no doubt that people who wear contact lenses worry when they hear stories like the student who forgot them, and that after 6 months I am blind.

While this story is questionable, some types of infections can be caused by misuse, sometimes leading to impaired vision.

Many people use them wrongly, risking their health and vision in many cases.

That is why it is very important to follow the following recommendations

1. Avoid swimming or showering with your glasses on. They absorb anything, including parasites and bacteria, putting you at risk of infection or worse.

2. If you suffer from allergies, wearing contact lenses can make them worse, since allergens such as pollen or dandruff can get caught in your lenses.

If you see your symptoms get worse, try wearing normal glasses. Also, always make sure that these are well cleaned before putting them on, so you can avoid any problem.

Remember to never wash them with common water. For cleaning, use the solution that the eye doctor has surely recommended.

3. Keep eye drops always with you, especially if you work with a computer.

Not only because dry lenses are more uncomfortable and difficult to use, but because there is a risk that they scratch your eye.

Use the drops as often as you need. If you have itchy eyes caused by allergies, get a few drops that contain antihistamines.

4. Use the lenses only as long as recommended. If you are prescribed to use them for 4 weeks, do not use them for 4 months.

Dust and protein deposits accumulated within them could cause irritation, infections or even permanent damage to the eye.

5. Always wash your hands before putting on your glasses, and make sure you store it correctly when you take them off.

Touching your eye with dirty hands is a good way to infect your eye, producing for example conjunctivitis.

6. Give your eyes a rest. It's hard once you're used to using them every second of the day, but your eyes need a break once in a while.

So try to wear your glasses a few hours a day, so that your eyes can receive good oxygenation.

7. Be sure to visit your eye doctor regularly. In this way, your doctor can check that your vision has not worsened, in which case you should prescribe new glasses to prevent your vision from being impaired.

However, if you experience any type of problem on a regular basis, it is best to visit your eye doctor and consult him.
